With a History of Changing Lives

On December 12, 1955 the Club began serving area boys at its original location on Clark Street in historical St. Charles. Local citizens fixed up the old house to be a safe place for young men to gather as well as to meet the needs of at-risk youth. The Club had large plans to help one youth, one life at a time and to solve the increasing problem of juvenile delinquency.

Immediately the Club began changing the lives of boys within the community. An all volunteer staff organized football, basketball and baseball teams with the help of the first Executive Director, Joe Dulin. As a positive and safe place to "hang around" the boys also worked on arts and crafts, woodworking, story telling, music and a newspaper.

Many local dignitaries and influential members of the Community displayed great interest in securing a place for the boys to experience organized positive activities.

Working on weekends and at the end of workdays, area carpenters, electricians, masons, and many others from different fields of expertise volunteered their time to bring the Club to reality. Materials used in the construction of the building were donated by local businesses and friends. Committed people gave what they had to bring the Club together "one brick at a time".

On December 16, 1962, dreams became a reality as the current Boys and Girls Club was dedicated. The Club was able to accept a larger membership and expand the programs to meet the growing needs of the community along with being the POSITIVE Place for Kids. In the past 50 years, we have effected the lives of three generations of St. Charles families.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Charles County has played an integral part in the community for the past 50 years. Today, over 2,000 young people annually participate in daily programs and services offered at the two facilities.

The Boys and Girls Club is located at 1400 Olive Street, St. Charles, MO. In 1990, a decision was made to add a second unit to service the youth in the St. Peters/O'Fallon area. A second Club was established and began serving the area youth in 1992. This Club is located at #1 Club Way, St. Peters, MO, about 1 mile east of Hwy. K on Mexico Road, in the Aspen Pointe subdivision.
