Sporting Clay Shoot: 1st Annual Boys and Girls Club Sporting Clay Shoot
A beautiful August day found sixteen teams of shooters at the Blackhawk Valley Hunt Club to participate in the Boys and Girls Clubs First Annual Sporting Clay Shoot sponsored by Bob Davis and American Family Insurance. Among the sportsman that day was former Cardinal’s outfielder John Mabry and shooting teams from MIZZOU and Lindenwood University.

A shoot off between the top two teams determined that Buddy Presley, Perry Dreckshage, Jim Olendorff and Spencer Smith was awarded first place with G. Steven DeMaster, Steven S. DeMaster, Henry Knolff, and Jeff Richardson coming in second. Third place went to Steven Wirth, Hunter Hopkins, Greg Camden, and Travis Mears.
Michael Todt was the big raffle winner of the day and claimed his prize of a Benelli Super Black Eagle 11 Max Camo 12-gauge shotgun.
Supporting Sponsors of the Sporting Clay Shoot included Cabela’s, Starkey Ear Protection and Summitt Distributing. Station Sponsors were Hoffman Grading and Excavating, Old Monroe Lumber & Rental, Tom Richardson and Greg Ransom of State Farm Insurance and Elmer’s Tavern.
Chairman of the event Keith Haislip, along with Jeanette Koechner, Resource Development Director for the Boys and Girls Clubs, was instrumental in making this first time event a resounding success. Plans are already underway for a 2nd Annual Sporting Clay Shoot in 2010.
